RIVERS AND JUNGLES OF THE AMAZON

Step into the Amazon like a true explorer. Navigate rivers and blackwater lakes, trek through deep jungle, camp in the heart of nature, and connect with local communities.

DAY 1  

  • 7:00 am Departure from Leticia, navigating the Amazon River towards Puerto Nariño.

  • Town tour including the viewpoint, Natütama Museum, and an Amazon fruit ice cream.

  • Lunch at a local restaurant.

  • Meet your local guide and travel along the Loretoyacu River to the Puerto Rico community (~1.5 hours).

  • Short 15-minute walk to Capibara Forest Lodge.

  • Accommodation in a hammock with mosquito net (basic facilities, no electricity).

  • Night jungle walk for insect and wildlife observation.

  • Return to the lodge for dinner in a traditional open-air kitchen and rest.

DAY 2

  • Breakfast at the lodge.

  • Preparation of camping gear and jungle hike to the campsite.

  • Set up your hammock with mosquito net (hands-on learning).

  • Prepare lunch in the jungle and enjoy some rest time.

  • Night exploration for possible wildlife spotting.

  • Return to the lodge for dinner, storytelling around the fire, and rest.

DAY 3 

  • Breakfast in the jungle.

  • Camp breakdown and return to the Puerto Rico community.

  • Lunch at a local family home.

  • Return to the lodge for a shower and rest.

  • Navigation through blackwater lakes, with artisanal fishing, exploration, and sunset watching.

  • Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

DAY 4

  • Breakfast at the lodge.

  • Departure to the Amazon River and on to the mouth of the Amacayacu River.

  • Meet your local guide and navigate along the Amacayacu River to the indigenous community of San Martín.

  • Community visit and lunch at a local restaurant.

  • Continue along the Amacayacu River to Nainekü Lodge.

  • Accommodation in a cabin with a private bathroom (solar power and 24-hour electricity).

  • Night walk for insect and possible wildlife observation.

  • Dinner and rest.

DAY 5 

  • Breakfast at the lodge.

  • Visit to the San Martín community for a handicraft workshop with a local artisan.

  • Lunch in the community.

  • Transfer to the Amazon River, public boat to a reserve in Peru, and meet your local guide.

  • Jungle hike (~2 hours) to learn about medicinal plants and spot wildlife.

  • Arrival and accommodation in a private room (electricity 6:00 pm–10:00 pm).

  • Dinner and night safari for possible caiman spotting. Rest.

DAY 6

  • Breakfast at the reserve.

  • Kayaking on the lake for birdwatching and a visit to the 500-year-old “Grandfather Tree.”

  • Lunch.

  • Artisanal fishing and time to enjoy the reserve.

  • Boat ride to the Amazon River (~20 minutes) and transfer back to Leticia.

  • End of the tour at the Leticia port at 5:00 pm.
